auto jeep will not change into third gear?

My automatic jeep grand cherokee will not change into third gear until it has warmed up. when starting from cold on a slightly cold day it can take up to 20 min's or so to warm up and finally change into third gear. Its been a bit better since the weather warmed up a bit. I have changed the transmission oil and filter but its made no real difference. Any help will be appreciated, many thanks in advance. Mat

2. maybe the bearing has gone in the automatic clutch, we had a simialr problem, it only worked when it was heated. if it has gone its a bitch to fit and will set you back like 200
3. Two possible things is that the gearbox is failing or that it could be just overheating but I don't think that would be the cause. Your best taking it to the garage but I think it's due to failing, how long have you had the jeep?
