Where could I get a protection mat for art and crafts?

I am going to buy art and crafts including moon sand for a friend's kids' xmas but she is a very anti mess person so am looking for a sort of protection mat that can go on over a table or on the floor. Does anyone know where I could get one? Thanks

1. Any craft store or craft section. Actually, you could just use an inexpensive vinyl tablecloth or garbage bags as a protective mat.

3. This may sound really cheap and green, but I just set down newspaper. I especially love to use newspaper to protect my table when I am painting.
