Does anyone have any idea how to remove cigarette smoke odor from a plastic craft cutting mat?
I recently bought a creative memories cuting mat from a garage sale and i didn't realize until i got home that it smelled horribly of smoke.I've tried soaking it in a few different cleaners and dish soap, spraying fabreeze, the freezer method that works for taking onion smell out of plastic tupperware, and have had no luck.Anyone??

- maybe try deluted bleach
- A try with Arm and Hammer Baking Soda, will not hurt, and it should work . Encourage people to quit smoking !
- put it on a layer of newspapers and then sprinkle baking soda (a good layer) all over it and let it sit for about a day. If it's small enough to fit into a shallow container you could submerge it in baking soda. That stuff is awesome at getting out smells.
- Try some sort of lye. The industrial purple degreaser may help. Lye dissolves tar and oils, and cigarette smoke contains tar.
- this may sound funny, but try denture cleaning tablets - fill your sink, drop a couple in warm water and let it soak....
- Have you tried lemon juice? Rubbing your mat with half a cut lemon or with reconsituted lemon juice (Real Lemon or any similar brand) should work since lemon juice is nature's bleach and disinfectant. If that doesn't work, search for the answer at the link below. Good luck!
